Major search underway in Co. Donegal for missing diver

A search is taking place in the Derryveagh Mountains in County Donegal for a missing walker.

The Lough Swilly lifeboat, Portrush lifeboat and coastguard helicopter are involved in the search.

It is understood that the group of divers were 65m below the surface at the sight of a wreck 16 miles north of Fanad Lighthouse.

In other recent coastguard news, Rescue 118 was tasked on Thursday (11 August) to the rescue of a canoeist stranded in the water for four hours in Lough Conn, as The Irish Times reports.

The alarm was raised on Saturday night when the walker had not returned to his vehicle.

The Sligo-based Rescue 118 helicopter was sent to the scene and an emergency Mayday call was put out to vessels in the area.
