With India job in sight Bharat Arun joins TNPL side

The controversy of the Indian bowling coach has taken a new turn as Ravi Shastri got his way and Bharat Arun will now be a part of the Indian Cricket Team as the bowling coach. "Thus, this arrangement", the BCCI official said.

"The CEO or the management want their own people. It's as simple as that".

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag, who was one of the frontrunners for the position of Team India coach, nearly won the job, but for a proposal to bring along with him a team of support staff, it has been reported.

It had been reported earlier that Shastri wanted Bharat Arun, the former India bowling coach, to return in the same capacity, and not the CAC's choice - Khan. However, both appointments, especially that of Zaheer, ran into trouble when the COA took offence over what it interpreted as the CAC going beyond its brief and appointing the support staff too.

First, there was drama and confusion over the selection of the head coach of the Indian cricket team.

He also refrained from commenting on the strained relationship between India captain Virat Kohli and the former coach Anil Kumble mentioning that he wasn't in the know of what had happened.

Other than the coach and players' disputes, there are some other issues that are tackled now.

Gillespie said that he was not able to decide this time whether to apply for the post or not.

Meanwhile, the contracts of support staff along with Shastri's salary are expected to be finalised on Tuesday when the four-member committee meets the head coach.

The various stakeholders involved look do not look to be communicating effectively with each other, as was obvious when the CAC wrote a letter to the CoA expressing its disappointment at the manner in which it was being targetted by the media only for what it believed was the job assigned to it. It wasn't much of a surprise as the duo had previously worked together during Shastri's two-year long stint as a Team Director of the national squad. In selected as the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team, he will have to relinquish his positions both in the TNPL and IPL, as the new BCCI rules have been created to crack down on conflicts of interest.
