Wimbledon 2017: Weather forecast for Sunday, July 16

With another victory at Wimbledon, Venus Williams can become the oldest woman in the Open era to win a Grand Slam title.

Muguruza became just the second Spanish victor of the coveted ladies crown by bringing five-times champion and out-of-sorts Venus Williams to earth 7-5 6-0 on Centre Court.

Venus Williams of the USA returns to Garbine Muguruza of Spain in the women's final of the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, in London, Britain, 15 July 2017. The 82-year-old teamed her finals day outfit with a chunky pearl necklace. The Spaniard is a former French Open champion (2016) and had previously contested a Wimbledon final (lost to Serena Williams in 2015). "Let's not make a drama, you know?" I always come very motivated to the Grand Slams. Despite the hard period in her life, Williams went on to defeat another four opponents without dropping a single set.

Immediately gracious in defeat, Williams said to her victor: "Well-done today, beautiful".

Garbiñe Muguruza's 2 Grand Slam titles are the second-most by a Spanish woman, behind only Arantxa Sánchez-Vicario's 4.

The Spaniard's tenacity really shined, especially during the first set, as nerves took their toll, bringing two set points to Williams at 5-4. She crafted her third break point of the set when Venus netted a forehand and took her chance when the American sent a second forehand long after another lengthy exchange. "Once I go to the big court, I feel good". She did not lost another game the entire match-taking nine in a row-and dropped only 12 total points in the entire second set. "I don't know if I will be like this with her age".

"For me it was a challenge to play her, growing up watching her play".

Having experienced both, the feeling of walking away a victor and the feeling of going home as the runner-up from a Grand Slam final, Muguruza knows it's way more fun getting the bigger trophy.

Wimbledon should avoid rain as the Championships draw to a close for 2017 on Sunday, with the men's Final the headline act. She keeps winning, makes two finals Grand Slams this year. I tried my best to do the same things you do, but I think that there'll be other opportunities.

Where Venus Williams fell, Claire Liu triumphed. "It's just about playing a little better". I feel good.' During the tournament, I was feeling better and better.

The resurgent former world No 1 opened the match with a 175kmh ace down the middle and clinched her first service game with a venomous backhand-down-the-line victor. But she faded in the second set as Muguruza, last year's French Open champ, seemed to get stronger.

It was as if getting out of that jam freed up Muguruza - and failing to capitalize deflated Williams, who didn't win a game the rest of the way. "I don't know if I will be like this @ her age". So I was calm.

Williams versus Garbine Muguruza was not the match anyone expected.

"Once I did this Wimbledon final, everything changed for me because I felt like, Stop complaining, your game suits this surface". I still can't even believe it.

"It's great, but it doesn't give me the title quite yet".
