The 2D fighting game's producer also clarified how to pronounce its title.

One of the biggest surprise game announcements to come from Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference was Dragon Ball FighterZ, a new fighting game seemingly inspired by the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise.

The new characters will be showcased in Japanese publication V Jump, which specialises in manga and manga-related video games. The characters Trunks was beating up in the reveal trailer will likely be included in the beta.

The game previously introduced Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Cell, Frieza and Majin Buu as well, with Trunks acting as the latest addition. Bandai Namco has announced that it will begin sign-ups for a closed beta very soon, and that beta will actually take place this month. "Arc System Works brings a pedigree and record of quality that fighting game fans can trust; with awesome visuals players might mistake as actual 2D animation from the famed DRAGON BALL series". The game also encourages players to train and master more than one fighter and style, delivering richer gameplay and motivation to take down the competition. I only know who the first three are because I'm an old man. If XenoVerse 2 can succeed on that system, then perhaps a port of next year's Dragon Ball Fighter Z isn't too far off. There are plans for various changes to stages as matches go on but no plans to implement cross-play between platforms.
