The body of a 19-year-old man has been recovered from the Falls of Bruar in Perthshire.

He had been swimming with friends in the area around the waterfall for about an hour before being swept away by accelerating currents.

Mr Ahmed's body was recovered after an extensive search of the Falls of Bruar, a beauty spot near Pitlochry.

He is understood to have been with a group, several of whom managed to escape, but one person could not be found.

An air ambulance and a search and rescue helicopter were also dispatched to the scene near Blair Atholl with police divers continuing the operation into Thursday morning.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A search was due to resume at around lunchtime on Thursday".

He added: "Our thoughts are with his family".
