PayPal support comes to Samsung Pay

As part of the tie-up, MobiKwik wallet is now integrated with Samsung Pay Mini to enable one-tap payments at more than 1.4 million MobiKwik-powered merchants across the country, the digital payments firm said in a statement.

PayPal is focused on delivering seamless mobile commerce experiences and extending this reach through strategic partnerships.

Samsung Electronics said Monday it signed a partnership agreement with the United States payment service provider PayPal to collaborate for the mobile payment service Samsung Pay. Effectively, Pay users can now use their PayPal balance to make purchases anywhere - in-app, online and in eligible stores. Currently, Samsung Pay is available for users of devices like Samsung S8, Samsung S7 Edge, S7, J7 Max and J7 Pro among others. At PayPal, we've seen - and helped enable - a major shift to mobile.

Importantly, this is not the same as getting a PayPal debit card and registering it with Samsung Pay.

PayPal and Samsung have had a strong partnership for several years now.

PayPal is the largest global payment platform that operates at scale on both the consumer and merchant side of the network. Past year alone, PayPal processed $102 billion in mobile payment volume and two billion mobile payment transactions. For instance, PayPal and Samsung worked together on mobile payments back in 2014, and was added as a payment method in Samsung smart TVs the following year.

"The future of digital payments in India will thrive only by collaborating with various ecosystem partners to drive acceptance".
