Oculus Announces First Ever Marvel VR Game

Marvel Powers United VR will be an Oculus Rift exclusive game coming later this year. The full list of playable character hasn't been released, but the launch trailer reveals that we'll get to play the game as the Hulk, Rocket Raccoon (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Captain Marvel. Powers United VR is being made by Oculus and Sanzaru Games, and will let players step into the shoes of characters like The Hulk, Captain Marvel, or Rocket Raccoon.

Aside from the allure of Marvel characters themselves, the multiplayer aspect of the game has the potential to help it really stand out. A short video was shown with popular Twitch streamers playing through a snippet of the game.

Revealed during the D23 Expo with a brief preview of what players can expect from the VR gameplay, battles that will involve a co-op experience with up to three other people taking part in the superhero mayhem. The trailer indicates that there will be an "arcade-like" component to the action that keeps track of player's kill streaks and similar statistics.

Marvel Powers United will also feature four player cooperative play. It should also be noted Oculus recently announced they were working on VR hardware at a lower price point that wouldn't require users to be tethered to an expensive PC yet still be able to play experiences on par with such PC rigs.
