Dumbo Live Action Cast and Release Date Confirmed

Danny DeVito portrays circus owner Max Medici and Michael Keaton plays entrepreneur VA Vandevere who swoops in with aerial artist Colette Marchant, portrayed by Eva Green, to make Dumbo a star.

Disney has recently announced a slew of live-action remakes of their animated classics, including a retelling of 101 Dalmations villainess Cruella De Ville, starring Emma Stone. Now, thanks to Disney's official Twitter account, we know when the film is set to release, accompanied by a behind-the-scenes look at Burton on the project's set. It was Burton's own live-action Alice in Wonderland adaptation (which was released in 2010) that kicked off the current trend of the Mouse House re-making its animated classics in live-action. Disney fans will be pleased to know that Burton recorded his video from inside Casey Jr., the iconic train from the original movie (which has been further immortalized in Disney theme parks).

Walt Disney's classic animated tale Dumbo, which opened October 23, 1941, won an Oscar for best scoring of a musical picture and was nominated for best original song for "Baby Mine".

The remake will also see the awesome talents of Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney, and Douglas Reith. Nigel Gostelow (Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Dark Shadows) is the executive producer.

The new film introduces Holt Farrier (Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war.

Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins have been cast as Holts children, who discover that Dumbo can fly. Tim Burton's Dumbo will hit theaters on March 29, 2019.

Ehren Kruger - who wrote the middle three "Transformers" movies - penned the script, with Katterli Frauenfelder, Derek Frey, Justin Springer, and Kruger producing.
