DeChambeau picks up maiden win

Bryson DeChambeau has only been a professional golfer for two years, but has been a lightning rod for many more.

The native of Modesto, California, was the California State Junior Champion in 2010, before moving on to SMU, where he golfed collegiately before turning pro after delivering the program its first individual championship.

DeChambeau can look past all the detractors now that he's a PGA Tour victor, especially with how he did it.

However, a birdie from 11 feet on the eighth proved the catalyst for a spectacular inward nine which handed DeChambeau victory with a closing 65, giving him an 18 under total for the week at TPC Deere Run.

He was 2 shots behind leader Patrick Rodgers.

A physics major, DeChambeau plays with all of his irons the same length, the theory being that single-length clubs require only one swing rather than having to make constant adjustments with every change. I knew I would definitely be back.

If nothing else, he has proof that his methods, no matter how unique, work for him. Lamb was 13 under for the final two rounds but was done in by pedestrian efforts in the first two rounds. He's a young man with a great future and he's a good friend of ours.

"When he gets in that position, that's when he is the best", DeChambeau's caddie, Tim Tucker, said.

Korea's Sung Hyun Park us the new US Women's Open champion after landing her first LPGA Tour title in style at Trump National in New Jersey.

"I was going through a process of understanding what is the most efficient way to hit the golf, to putt, for me, based on how I feel and how uncomfortable I am as well", he said.

Bryson DeChambeau's win came in just his 40th TOUR start at the age of 23 years, 10 months. Why is he wearing these things out here?' "It was important for me to make the cut here", Stricker said.

"I've been working so hard my whole life to try to do this".

"Our tendency when you have the lead is to kind of hold on and play safe and guard against making mistakes", said Rodgers, who remained winless on the PGA Tour.

Hansen says winning the Best Social Media Activation award is the icing on top of the cake for a tournament that was voted as the Best PGA Tour Event in 2016.

Tournament director Clair Peterson awarded DeChambeau a sponsor's exemption two years ago as an amateur. He's done some great stuff in the past few years with Jordan and a few others. The 51-year-old McCarron made up a six-shot deficit in the final round to capture his first major on the PGA Tour Champions.
