Manchester United Handed Fresh Boost In Cristiano Ronaldo Pursuit

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told his agent to secure him a dream return to Man Utd, as his future in Spain looks in real doubt.

"I still haven't spoken to Cristiano Ronaldo".

Ronaldo's moment to return home?

Re-elected Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has vowed to solve Cristiano Ronaldo's troubles and has described the uncertainty surrounding his future as "very strange".

When speaking publicly on Monday having ran unopposed to return as president for the next four years, Perez did not reference Ronaldo when discussing the current state of Los Blancos. I have found everything out through the newspapers. However, Manchester United's history with overpaying for players in these last years, namely Anthony Martial, around $70 million, and Paul Pogba, around $120 million, weakens the club's ability to prove it's a smart, hard negotiator.

"No one has sent us an offer for either Cristiano or anyone else", Perez told Onda Cero radio station. Ronaldo is in a major tournament with his country and until that is over I can not talk to him.

Perez expects to hold talks with Ronaldo soon after the tournament's conclusion and hailed the 32-year-old's integrity as both a player and a person.

Ronaldo spent six years at the club between 2003 and 2009, scoring 118 goals in 292 appearances for the Red Devils while winning three Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy amongst countless other pieces of silverware.

There were reports Real Madrid would be ready to pay the amount in order to keep Ronaldo at the club, but Perez has dismissed this notion, claiming it's not what the player would want.

Getting Ronaldo back would tick off all the boxes, as he has shown that he's an wonderful goal scorer, along with being one of the most marketable players in the game. United would do well to avoid the Ronaldo-shaped distraction and remain focused on key targets that were sought long before this saga came to light.
