Reached for comment, Facebook confirmed that the "Order Food" functionality is related to the October news of Slice and Delivery.com food ordering functionality via restaurants' Facebook Pages, but didn't offer any details as to when the new button in Facebook's navigation began appearing for U.S. users.

Facebook is rolling out a new service which will allow you to to order stuff from all your favorite restaurants from within its app itself, preventing you from unnecessarily fidgeting over other food ordering websites or navigating over restaurant's own websites or apps.

In October past year, the social media giant announced a deal with online ordering businesses Delivery.com and Slice.

The newly incorporated colorful hamburger icon on the desktop and a new blue-and-white hamburger icon on smartphones is a fresh option for the Facebook users to place a pickup and delivery option for foods from restaurants through Delivery.com or Slice.

FB has been more aggressively courting local businesses by offering online menus and other info for restaurants, and its reviews are already giving platforms like Yelp a run for their money. It is so because Facebook navigation, for both mobile and website, is rolling out a new "order food" option. Additionally, from ordering to check out, everything will take place on Facebook. Now you can order your favorite takeout from the restaurant up the street without leaving the safe confines of the social network.

The "Order Food" feature is better since it aggregates all the supported restaurants on a single page. Here, you'll find a list of restaurants, which include a featured photo, price range (indicated by dollar signs), star ratings, and type of cuisine.

According to one user who successfully used the service last night on mobile to order a calzone, when you tap through to being your order, you're able to browse the menu, add items to your cart, edit your order, add a suggested tip, then pay within Facebook, in a mobile experience powered by either Delivery.com or Slice. It also displays whether delivery, pickup or both are available.
