"Cash Me Outside" Girl LOSES to Beyonce, Emma Watson's Speech

MTV abolished gender-specific categories for its acting awards this year, giving the honor for best actor in a movie to Emma Watson for "Beauty and the Beast".

In the first award that groups female and male actors together, she beat male stars James McAvoy and Hugh Jackman to the award. "MTV's move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone", Watson said in her acceptance speech.

For the past 24 years, the MTV Movie Awards has been an evening dedicated to having fun with the film industry-rarely taking itself seriously as an award show.

The policy was put into practice at the top of the show by presenter Asia Kate Dillion, who proudly noted she has been able to break down gender barriers as "the first openly non-binary actor to play an openly non-binary actor on a major TV show", Showtime's drama series "Billions".

And finally, the Best Fight award was changed this year to the Best Fight Against the System Award. A non-binary person is someone who doesn't identify with either gender. "And that doesn't need to be separated into two categories". Tongue-in-cheek, he described himself as a progressive personality fully equal to the night's theme of equality. The MTV Generation Award went to the "Fast and Furious" action franchise and star Vin Diesel thanked "a generation that was willing to accept this multicultural franchise where it didn't matter what color your skin was or what country you're from - when you're family, you're family".

"I'm so proud to be a part of a film that celebrates diversity, literacy, inclusion, joy, and love the way that this one does", Watson said.
