Met Office issues yellow weather warning after thick fog develops in Somerset

Met Eireann has issued a Status Orange fog warning for Connacht, as well as a Status Yellow low temperature warning.

Patches of dense fog are predicted to continue into the evening.

It is expected to clear later this morning but some may remain in to the afternoon. Mist and fog will from again in light easterly breezes but winds will be moderate along south and parts of the east coasts keeping temperatures there around +2 to +4 degrees.

There are also several reports of ice on the road in the county.

A spokesperson said: "Areas of fog, which have not cleared in some areas during Thursday, will become thicker and more extensive this evening".

"Patches of dense, freezing fog will then affect some areas through the rest of the night, although probably more restricted to parts of southwest England by Friday morning".
