Police hunt a teenage gunman after a 41-year-old man is shot dead at a Carrara property on Friday morning.

The man and woman may be travelling together in a white Holden sedan similar to the one pictured.

Detectives are hunting for two people over the slaying - an 18-year-old Pacific Islander man they believe left the property and a heavily tattooed older woman.

The 31-year-old woman is described as Caucasian in appearance approximately 172cm tall with a proportionate build, blue eyes and a tattoo on her neck.

Police have now released images of the pair, and say the public should not approach them but should call triple zero immediately if they're spotted.

A 41-year-old man died at his property on Riverbend Avenue in Carrara following a shooting about 8:45am.
